Quote For the Week

" Who will have all men to be saved, and come unto the knowledge of the truth"

[1 Timothy 2:4]

"Hence we see the childish folly of those who represent this passage to be opposed to predestination. 'If God' say they, 'wishes all men indiscriminately to be saved, it is false that some are predestined by his eternal purpose to salvation, and others to perdition.' They might have had some ground for saying this, if Paul were speaking here about individual men; although even then we should not have wanted the means of replying to their argument..But I say nothing on that subject as it has nothing to do with this passage...for the Apostle simply means, that there is no people and no rank in the world that is excluded from salvation; because God wishes that the gospel should be proclaimed to all without exception.

  John Calvin

Everyone is welcome to come to our services - young or old, rich or poor. Our services are simple in style, with the preaching of the Gospel having a primary place in the worship. A precentor leads the singing of the Psalms, as was the practice in the Church of Scotland at the time of the Reformation and for some years thereafter. The ministry is maintained by the free-will offering of our people.

Who Are We?

There are many very important documents available to the Church today. So far as the Free Church of Scotland Continuing is concerned, the Word of God holds the primary place in regards doctrine, worship, practice and discipline. Yet, we must be able to indicate to the wider world what we believe the Bible to teach. For example, Peter was asked to make a specific confession of who he thought Christ was (Matthew 16:15-16). Peter made his confession: "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God". So today, the Free Church of Scotland Continuing makes its own confession. The Westminster Confession of Faith is our confessional standard. You will find within this website the various documents that will explain what we as a denomination believe. These documents are free to download. All office-bearers are required on induction to office to affirm that the Confession of Faith is a confession of his own personal faith.

Telephone Service

The congregation has begun an exciting new service via the telephone. Using a mobile telephone, we now relay our services to those who are housebound, or to those who simply wish to hear reformed preaching but who cannot get to the service.

All that is required is that you have a normal telephone with a hands-free facility. We will do the rest.

If you are interested, or know of anyone who is, please let us know.

Every week the minister of the congregation, the Rev. James I. Gracie, produces a News-sheet for the congregation.

These News-sheets are now available to download.

The preaching of the Gospel is, of course, our main business. We want as many as possible to hear the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our services are recorded and can be listened to or downloaded free of charge. We invite you to listen to the sermons at your leisure.

"...blessed are they that hear the Word of God, and keep it..." (Luke 11:28)
